Bull
Bull is a brutal, subversive and wickedly suspenseful revenge thriller written and directed by Bafta®-winner Paul Andrew Williams (London to Brighton), and featuring outstanding performances from an electric Neil Maskell (Kill List, Utopia) and a terrifying David Hayman (Taboo, Vertical Limit) plus Tamzin Outhwaite (Eastenders).
After a 10-year absence, former gang enforcer Bull returns to his old haunts to find his missing son and seek revenge on those who double-crossed him and left him for dead. Painful secrets from the past will soon be revealed and like a man possessed, Bull will stop at nothing to get back at those who must atone for their sins.
What the critics say….
Writer-director Paul Andrew Williams’ punchy revenge thriller “Bull” is a throwback to films like “Get Carter” and “Point Blank,” where one righteously angry man wreaks havoc through the underworld, using everything he’s learned in a lifetime of being a lowlife. Neil Maskell gives a riveting performance as the title character, a mob lackey and loving father who goes after his former boss and father-in-law Norm (David Hayman) when the old man interferes with Bull’s attempt to take custody of his son - Noel Murray, Los Angeles Times
Williams has made an incredibly stirring, chilling study of violence…. one of those movies that plays even better when you revisit its gruesome parts in your memory, as they become even more expressive when you know the whole story. The movie is also highly amused with itself, and places pivotal being-held-at-knife-point scenes on amusement park rides…..It’s all part of how “Bull” always keeps you disoriented, never taking it easy, and locking you in… That only makes me admire it more - Nick Allen, Roger Ebert
Paul Andrew Williams and Neil Maskell breathe new life into a familiar one-man-army scenario. Unrelenting, no-nonsense and hard-as-nails - just like its eponymous anti-hero - Ian Freer, Empire Magazine
