NO LONGER RENTABLE
Following a palace coup, gifted swordsman Tae Yul is living a quiet life in the mountains with his daughter Tae-ok. Finding his eyesight is failing, on the point of blindness he is persuaded by Tae-ok to return to the city for treatment, unaware that an active invasion led by the cocky and power-hungry Gurutai, best swordsman of the neighbouring Qing Dynasty, is underway.
Quelling the insurgency is the responsibility of Min Seung Ho, Head of the Palace Guard, best swordsman of the Joseon Dynasty and former mentor to Tae Yul. His belief in honour and loyalty are fatigued by decades of serving the crown, and he finds himself weighing his obligations as a soldier against the practicalities of survival. When Tae-ok is kidnapped by Gurutai’s forces, Tae Yul’s fighting spirit is re-ignited. Armed only with a walking cane he sets out to take back the only thing that matters to him.
The three greatest swordsmen are about to meet.
’…a pacy, crisply choreographed South Korean action film set in the 17th century … the intricate tapestry of action, family drama, political intrigue and period spectacle is anything but generic.’ - Leslie Felperin, The Guardian.
’…a satisfying action thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat towards the end.’ - Jennie Kermode, Eye For Film.
